Please try again later. Weird, but this was the way the issue was resolved. Strange at it seems, this has worked for a lot of people: hold down the "option" key while you select "turn off iTunes Match", and then turn it back on. It goes through all three stages each time and then either takes so long to upload or just gives a 4001 error during uploading and then starts the cycle again.

The process is now in the step 3, uploading songs. If the app is not shown in the Finder Window then delete it. There was an error in the iTunes store. This seems to do the trick for some people.
